I have always been fascinated by our inner power and how it can be directed to create, manifest and heal.
Whilst I don't really want to get into religious debate, I am a great believer in a consciousness greater than our own. You may wish to refer to this conscious as God, the Universe, Source, Quantum energy etc...
I will be referring to it in the article as the Unified Field.
I do believe that we have an innate ability to tap into this Unified Field with intention to create what we wish to manifest for ourselves including health and healing from dis-ease.
In this article, I will be exploring the work of some well known names in this area, but I want to keep this succinct so that you can get to the information you need in a quick and coherent manner, but I will leave you references so that you can pursue this to a greater depth.
While this will be mainly focused on the aim of creating true health, I would like you to bear in mind that what I am about to share with you can be used to create and manifest whatever you want for yourself or the world!
The Mind Body Connection
I discovered for myself a number of years ago how powerful it can be to form a conscious connection with my own body. This was before I was aware of any work done around this.
In very basic terms I stopped using words like, I am sick / unwell / run down / in pain etc...
Instead I would acknowledge that my body is giving me feedback, and I needed to pay attention.
I started to recognise symptoms as my body trying to heal, so instead of lamenting over it or cursing it, I would say THANK YOU!
The first time I did this, I had a sore throat and a cough, it felt like I was heading toward a full blown cold. I went to bed early and thanked my body for healing me. The next day I woke up and I felt absolutely fine! All signs of a cold had gone!
That was when I realised there was a very powerful connection between the body and the mind.
Epigenetics
Recently, my parents asked me if I could give some advice for a friend of theirs who has Muscular Dystrophy. I firstly thought "Oh blimey, this is a bit above my paygrade"... But I decided to put it "out there" and see if any inspiration came through that might help these people. I read up about Muscular Dystrophy in it's varying forms but there was no really understanding of the cause other than a "genetic disorder".
I know when doctors label dis-ease "Genetic" or "Autoimmune" - the truth is.... they haven't really got a clue what they're dealing with - and all they can do is throw more drugs at the problem in the hope it'll ease the symptoms a little... (Nevermind the fact that the drugs will cause a whole host of new issues.)
I put some advice together on an email for these folks on cutting out toxins as much as possible, possible performing a detox and some information on a bioavailable nutrient dense diet.... then BOOM, out of the blue the word "EPIGENETICS" dropped into my head... (OF COURSE!!!)
I knew a little about it from the likes of Dr Joe Dispenza, but I hadn't gone deep. This was my invitation to explore it more and be able to share what I have learnt. And of course I will be sharing this information to my parent's friends.
Change Your Mind, Change Your Reality
Dr. Joe Dispenza is a researcher, lecturer, and author who has written extensively on the topic of epigenetics and its relationship to meditation and other mind-body practices.
He has a YouTube page FULL of testimonials of people healing from all kinds of disease from stage 4 cancer to muscular dystrophy and many, many others. (I will put a link to Dr Joe's YouTube at the end of this article.)
According to Dr. Joe, certain types of meditation and visualisation can help individuals shift their consciousness and reprogram their brains and bodies at a fundamental level, leading to positive changes in gene expression and overall health.
If you are unfamiliar with Dr Joe's work, I invite you to watch this 12 minute video which is a montage of his wisdom. I hope this excites you enough to carry on reading.
In Dr. Joe's Book "Becoming Supernatural", he explains the science behind the mind-body connection and the power of the human brain to create new neural pathways and change the way we think and behave. He explores the concept of neuroplasticity, which refers to the brain's ability to change and adapt in response to new experiences and stimuli. He also discusses the role of meditation and other mind-body practices in promoting positive changes in the brain and body.
Through consistent practice, individuals can create new neural pathways and strengthen existing ones, leading to improvements in cognitive function, emotional regulation, and can activate the body's natural healing mechanisms.
Dr. Joe provides practical guidance and meditation and visualization techniques, including the "heart coherence" method. This is a simple practice that I personally use several times a day for a few minutes to put me into that "higher vibrational state".
What is Heart Coherence?
Heart coherence is a concept and technique that is often used in meditation and other mind-body practices. The technique is based on the idea that the heart has its own electromagnetic field, which can be synchronized and harmonized with the brain and the Unified Field through intentional breathing and visualization.
Heart coherence techniques typically involve focusing on the heart and intentionally cultivating positive emotions such as gratitude, appreciation, and love. This can be done through visualization, such as imagining oneself in a beautiful and peaceful environment, or by focusing on positive memories or experiences.
Research has shown that practicing heart coherence techniques can have a variety of positive effects on the body and mind, including:
- Healing the body
- Greater connection, compassion & empathy
- Improving heart rate variability and cardiovascular function
- Enhancing cognitive function and memory
- Improving emotional regulation and well-being
- Enhancing feelings of peace and joy
- Manifestation
Dr. Joe has incorporated heart coherence techniques as a way to help individuals achieve a state of coherence and harmony between the heart and brain and achieving incredible feats of healing.
While Dr Joe does 30-40 minute Heart Coherence meditations, I like using it regularly through the day for 5-10 minutes. This keeps me in a higher vibrational state where there is more possibility, more healing and more abundance.
You can use this to visualise yourself healed, or to manifest anything you would like to see into your life.
Because I believe the Unified Field responds to the higher vibrations of gratitude, joy, love, compassion etc you can virtually become one with it by using this beautiful and simple practice.
Close your eyes and enjoy. This video is just under 5 minutes.
Dr Joe is not the only one who swears by this form of meditation. In fact his friends and colleagues Gregg Braden and Bruce Lipton also use this powerful technique.
Another book written about the innate power of the heart is "Human Heart, Cosmic Heart" by Dr. Thomas Cowan, a holistic medical doctor and author. This book challenges the conventional medical understanding of the heart as merely a pump and instead presents a broader perspective on the heart's function.
Dr. Cowan argues that the heart is not just a physical organ but is also an energetic center that connects us to the cosmos. He suggests that the heart plays a vital role in our health and well-being, both physically and spiritually, and that understanding its true nature is essential for achieving optimal health.
In the book, Cowan explains his understanding of the heart's physiology and the importance of the heart's electromagnetic field, which he believes has a significant impact on our health. He also delves into the history of heart research and explores ancient cultures' understanding of the heart's role in the body and the cosmos.
Cowan proposes that the heart is not just a pump, but a dynamic, living organ that functions as an interface between the body and the universe. He suggests that the heart's electromagnetic field can affect not only our physical health but also our emotional and spiritual well-being.
The Ancient cultures that Dr Cowan refers to had a deep understanding of the heart's significance and its role in the body, which differed significantly from the modern medical perspective. For instance:
- In ancient Egyptian culture, the heart was believed to be the seat of the soul and the center of consciousness. They believed that the heart was weighed against a feather to determine a person's worthiness to enter the afterlife.
- In Chinese medicine, the heart is considered the Emperor of the body, responsible for governing the body's organs and functions. The heart is also believed to be connected to emotions and spirit, and an imbalance in the heart's energy can lead to emotional and physical disorders.
- In Ayurvedic medicine, the heart is considered the center of the body's energy and responsible for circulating life force (prana) throughout the body. It is also associated with emotions, love, and compassion.
- In ancient Greek philosophy, the heart was thought to be the seat of the soul and the source of emotions and reason. Aristotle believed that the heart was responsible for circulating blood throughout the body.
These ancient cultures recognized the heart's importance beyond its physical functions as a pump, recognizing its spiritual and emotional significance. Their understanding of the heart's role in the body was holistic, considering not only the body but also the mind and spirit.
Pretty cool eh?
Becoming Supernatural
Dr Joe explores the concept of a "supernatural" state of consciousness, in which individuals are able to transcend their limitations and tap into a higher level of consciousness. He argues that this state of consciousness is achievable through consistent practice of heart coherence meditation and other mind-body practices.
Dr. Joe's meditation practices are based on the principles of neuroscience and quantum physics, and are designed to help individuals shift their brainwaves into a state of coherence and balance enabling them to tap into a higher level of consciousness and create positive changes in their physical and emotional well-being.
Dr. Joe' meditation practices involve several key elements, including:
- Focus on the heart: Dr. Dispenza emphasizes the importance of focusing on the heart and cultivating feelings of love, gratitude, and appreciation. This is based on research showing that the heart has a powerful electromagnetic field that can influence the brain and the body.
- Visualization and mental rehearsal: Dr. Dispenza uses visualization and mental rehearsal techniques to create a clear image of the desired outcome, and to focus on the positive emotions and feelings associated with that outcome. This is based on research showing that the brain does not distinguish between real and imagined experiences.
- Breathwork: Dr. Dispenza incorporates intentional breathing techniques into his meditation practices as a way to create a state of coherence and balance between the body and mind.
- Alpha and theta brainwave states: Dr. Dispenza's meditations are designed to shift the brainwaves into alpha and theta states, which are associated with relaxation, creativity, and heightened awareness.
Dr. Joe's meditation practices are designed to help individuals tap into their inner wisdom and intuition, and to create positive changes in their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. By combining elements of neuroscience, quantum physics, and mindfulness, he offers a unique approach to meditation that is grounded in scientific research and has helped many individuals achieve transformative results in their health.
I have included a few of Dr Joe's meditations at the end of this article.
My Personal Conclusion
I strongly believe that our health is not only tied to what we consume, but also to our mental and emotional state.
One of my favourite reference books is the Secret Language of Your Body by Inna Segal. This tells you why you may be getting pain in certain areas of your body and what it means in your life.
For example, a pain in your foot may mean that you are not moving forward with your life.
When we can view our bodies as a whole and an incredible important messenger rather than something seperate to us, we can treat it holistically and start to investigate why on an emotional and mental level we have a particular disease.
So it also stands to reason that when we focus on harmony and coherence as a way of being, we can heal even some of the most devastating health conditions.
