So before I get into this article, I can already hear the naysayers - "It wasn't a stroke then" or "that's impossible"... So let me give you a little bit of background.
For whatever reason, my Dad has always experienced highly viscose blood. This has presented in many ways over the years from varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis, high blood pressure, pulmonary embolisms (including blood clots in the heart) and of course stroke.
It's actually something of a miracle he is still with us.
At this point my Dad should be on a long list of meds from blood thinners to statins to meds for high blood pressure, but he doesn't take any of them....
Dad & I at a conference 4 years ago.
80 Years and Counting...
Over the past few years I have worked with my Dad to keep him off statins (Statins and the cholesterol myth are a whole other subject!) and the blood pressure meds, the blood thinning meds were the last to go because of his history and potential fatal effects of not taking them.
At the end of this article I will share his daily supplements keeping him healthy for all the above conditions.
It's important to point out that during the whole process of coming off medications, my Dad regularly monitored his blood pressure and blood oxygen to make sure everything is normal.
Considering he is 80, he is very active and both physically and mentally, and he fully understood what he was doing when he came off of his meds (and it was 100% his choice).
Let's get back to the story of the blood thinning....
Back in 2020, I was doing a huge amount of research into a substance called DMSO (you can read more about it here).
At that time, I knew DMSO was fantastic for arthritis. My Mum had a lot of pain and stiffness in her shoulders - we figured it was arthritis, so I got her (or rather my Dad) to apply it to her shoulders...
What happened next was the most surprising thing. My Dad almost immediately got a nosebleed after applying the DMSO to my Mum. (FYI, it helped my Mum's shoulders immensely - for more on that see my DMSO article here). He was still taking his blood thinners at the time.
The next day, the same thing happened, so we came to the conclusion it was most certainly the DMSO that was behind it.
I suggested to him at the time, that he could probably swap the blood thinners for an application of DMSO. I knew it could be risky, but the evidence that it was thinning his blood was undeniable. It was entirely his decision, and I would never make anyone do anything they are uncomfortable with.
My Dad was keen to get off the blood thinners, as he's not a fan of medication. So over the next few weeks he applied it to the inside of his forearms as he came off the blood thinners, while monitoring his blood oxygen.
There were no problems, when he went in for blood tests, all was normal....
"Dad's Having a Stroke!!!"
I can't remember the exact date, but it was late November 2022. My Family and I had just got back from a holiday in Cornwall. I'd been in the door for only 20 mins, when my Mum rushed in panicked, saying "Dad's having a stroke!!!"
Dad had lost the feeling in his left leg, and his left arm was going along with the feeling in the left side of his face. He knew from past experience, it was definitely a stroke.
My husband immediately got on the phone for an ambulance.
I ran in, and quietly asked myself "What do I need to do...?"
The voice in my head said "DMSO"
I immediately grabbed the DMSO / Magnesium Oil mixture I had in the cupboard. I rubbed it on his temples, the sides of his neck (where the main arteries run) and on the inside of his fore arms.
Once I had done that, I asked, "What do I need to do now?"
"Cold laser!"
Fortunately over the years, I had accumulated a number of frequency healing devices. The cold laser is particularly known for improving the quality of the blood. It is worn on the wrist like a watch. (For more information and to see the one I recommend and sell, click here).
While the cold laser ran, I continued to apply the DMSO at 15 minute intervals.
Within half an hour, my Dad said he was getting sensation back in his leg and arm, and where he could barely lift his arm he could raise it above his shoulder.
We continued with the cold laser and applying the DMSO.
Dad's face went from being grey with fear and concern to smiles and the colour returned to his face.
Within 90 minutes, he was walking around as if nothing had happened.
The paramedics arrived around 15 minutes later. He wasn't keen to go into hospital with them, but because of his history, they insisted and I agreed it was good to get fully checked out.
He was released around 6 hours later. The hospital couldn't find any traces of a blood clot - and he was sent home with a clean bill of health.
So Why Did he Have a Stroke...?
I can tell you are wondering why if the daily applications DMSO was working so well, why did Dad have the stroke?
It's a fair question, one I wondered myself.
2022 was a chaotic year for us as a family. We had to sell our family home due to financial difficulties and move in with my parents. As such we had two houses to declutter and there was so much happening. Unbeknownst to me, Dad had stopped using the DMSO - I guess he got out of the habit in all the chaos.
And there's the answer! This goes to show the power of this incredible substance.
He obviously realises the error of his ways now and applies it religiously every single day!
While we don't know why the blood clotting occurs with my Dad, we have a very safe method to keep his blood flowing freely.

Earlier in this article I promised to share the supplements that my Dad is also taking to support his blood and heart health.
1. Omega 3 Fish Oils (4000 mg)
Omega-3 fatty acids offer numerous health benefits:
- Heart Health: Omega-3s are known to reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering triglyceride levels, reducing blood pressure, and preventing plaque buildup in arteries.
- Brain Function: DHA, one type of omega-3 fatty acid, is a major structural component of the brain and essential for cognitive function. Consuming omega-3s has been linked to improved memory, mood regulation, and decreased risk of age-related cognitive decline.
- Eye Health: DHA is also a major component of the retina in the eye, so omega-3s play a crucial role in maintaining good vision and reducing the risk of macular degeneration.
- Inflammation Reduction: Omega-3s have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce symptoms of inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and asthma.
- Joint Health: Omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce joint pain and stiffness associated with conditions like arthritis.
- Skin Health: EPA and DHA are important for maintaining healthy skin. Omega-3s can help manage conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne by reducing inflammation and supporting skin barrier function.
Improved Mood: Omega-3s may help alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety by supporting neurotransmitter function and reducing inflammation in the brain.
2. Vitamin E (1200mg)
Please read how Vitamin E supports the heart and blood here - https://www.new-earth-healing.com/blog/blood-clotting-heart-attacks-and-myocarditis
Here are some benefits associated with hawthorn berry:
- Heart Health: Hawthorn berry is commonly used to support heart health. It may help improve blood flow to the heart, lower blood pressure, and reduce the risk of heart disease. Some studies suggest that hawthorn may also help improve symptoms of congestive heart failure.
- Antioxidant Properties: Hawthorn berries are rich in antioxidants, including flavonoids and oligomeric proanthocyanidins, which help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. This antioxidant activity may help reduce inflammation and lower the risk of chronic diseases.
- Cholesterol Management: Some research suggests that hawthorn berry may help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels while increasing HDL (good) cholesterol levels, which can contribute to better cardiovascular health.
- Digestive Support: Hawthorn berry has been used traditionally to aid digestion and relieve gastrointestinal discomfort. It may help stimulate digestion and reduce symptoms like indigestion and bloating.
- Blood Pressure Regulation: Hawthorn berry may help regulate blood pressure by dilating blood vessels, which can improve blood flow and reduce hypertension.
- Anxiety Reduction: Some studies suggest that hawthorn berry may have mild anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) effects, possibly due to its ability to improve blood flow and reduce oxidative stress.
- Mild Diuretic Effect: Hawthorn berry has mild diuretic properties, which means it may help increase urine production and promote the elimination of excess fluids from the body.
- Anti-inflammatory Effects: Hawthorn berry contains compounds with anti-inflammatory properties, which may help reduce inflammation in the body and alleviate symptoms of inflammatory conditions.

This article provides an early overview of the therapeutic potential of DMSO, including its use in the treatment of arthritis, musculoskeletal injuries, and other inflammatory conditions.
There is limited scientific evidence regarding the blood-thinning capacity of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). DMSO is primarily known for its solvent properties and its ability to penetrate biological membranes, which has led to its use in various medical and research applications. However, its effects on blood clotting and platelet function are not well understood and have not been extensively studied.
While some anecdotal reports and small-scale studies suggest that DMSO may have anticoagulant properties, there is insufficient scientific evidence to support its use as a blood thinner or anticoagulant medication. Furthermore, DMSO can have various side effects and interactions with other medications, so its use for blood-thinning purposes should be approached with caution and under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
If you are considering using DMSO or any other substance for its potential blood-thinning effects, it's essential to consult with a qualified healthcare provider to assess the risks and benefits, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking other medications.
